Review:Ellana Mineral Liquid Lip Color

I just ordered Ellana's Mineral Liquid Lip Color in the color stunning.
It was in the twist tube container and cost me only 120php.
Here's a quick review of the item...

Pros:
-It's very affordable (120php)
-It's available in different pretty colors (check out their website)
-It's a Philippine product
-Has a cool minty flavor
-A little goes a long way

Cons:
-I found the twist tube container a bit irritating. I twisted for about a minute before some color came out.
-It's heavily tinted so first time users would have to practice first just to get the right shade/look
-I found it too thick for my liking. It was more difficult to apply than other liquid lip colors.

Would I buy again? Yes. Ellana's Mineral Liquid Lip Color is well worth the money.
I suggest that you get multiple items to save on shipping. They have so many kikay items that you're sure to buy more than one make-up type. ^_^

Review:Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Oooh... Sweeney Todd..
Another movie with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton working together.
Love it.
Although they're not not the greatest of singers, I love the cast.
They suit their roles perfectly, specially Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd and Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett.
I loved how the production maintained the beauty of the songs in the original Sweeney Todd play but also transformed them into something that would suit the big screen..
The way they transition from songs to dialogue is flawless.
I also loved Tim Burton's treatment for the film.
The movie was almost in black and white and they had color in all the right scenes.
I think the blood was also made to look a bit different.
Not exactly like blood.
The ending of the movie was a bit different from the play.
I haven't watched the entire play yet.. I'm going to do it later tonight.
Tim Burton rocks!
Overall Sweeney Todd is the best movie that I've seen for a long time..
I love Johnny Depp......................

Review:Cloverfield

Hmm..
When we went up to the counter for tickets (using my raffle prize-movie passes) the cashier asked us to read something first..
It's a warning of sorts..Telling us that Cloverfield was shot using a hand-held camera and may cause dizziness. 'Kinda like blairwitch' was the thought that came to my mind.. And that movie sucked.
I started to change my mind about watching the movie but since I know that I can't drag Beau into watching Saw 4, we just took our tickets and went into the cinema..
Well, the movie was okay..
Giant monster.
People panicking and stealing stuff.
Girl from mean girls exploded.
Manhattan got nuked.
Although it was quite dragging in the beginning.
They should've cut that part in half and added more action scenes..
We're still trying to figure out where the monster came from.
A quick peek at IMDB let us find out that there's going to be a sequel..
I understand.
But honestly, the movie wasn't great but it wasn't crap either.
I recommend it if you're trying to do something with your free time or free movie passes..

Review:Jumper

The first part was ok..
Basic introduction as to how he discovered he could jump.

We also got to see how Annasophia Robb turned into a young beauty overnight.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of dragging lovey dovey moments in the movie that could've been put to better use by adding more action scenes.
And the things that you saw in the trailer basically sums up the effects that's featured in the movie..
Well,ok..Maybe there was a tiny bit more.

The ending was a major let down. I was like 'that's it?!!!? Seriously? Crap.
Ugh..I want to put in more details but I don't want to write spoilers either..
Just watch Jumper if you think Hayden is a cutie.

Review:10,000 B.C. (*spoiler alert!*)

To be honest, I never thought I would like this movie.
I saw the trailer and I wasn't moved.
So they lived in 10,000 B.C. So what?
But since the movie theaters here didn't have anything good to watch, I gave in and decided to watch the movie.
Okay.
Steven Strait and Camilla Belle were hot even though they were supposed to look like grimy people.
The story seems simple to me but the visual effects in the movie made up for it and made the movie into something special.
The ending was a bit too corny for my liking.
Evolet should've stayed dead.
Or maybe I just didn't like the fact that a certain someone was drooling 'cause of her.. Hmph

Review:Horton Hears a Who (spoilers!)

I was feeling a bit moody and bitchy the day we decided to watch this movie.
Horton Hears a Who automatically changed my mood.
The first few seconds of the movie was beautiful. I mean,it looked real to me.
I'm simply amazed at what technology can do these days.
I mean, cartoons used to be just cartoons, you know?
Anyway, I felt like I was a kid again while watching this movie.
I laughed at the things that Horton could do with his ears and I hated the kangaroo.
I wish Jesse McCartney had more lines, although of course, that would've spoiled the plot a bit.
Like any old regular cartoon reality plays a small role in this movie (i.e. Horton going through thousands of clovers and eventually finding the right one) but I guess that's what makes cartoons so much fun.

Review:In the Name of the King

What can I say?
Horrible movie.
Terrible script.
Mediocre effects.
Dreadful directing.
Poor acting.
Watching this movie is like masochism.
I expected more from this movie.
What a let down.
In the Name of the King is probably the worst movie I've seen this year.

Review:The Mist

At first, I thought that this movie would be bad.
You know, the regular novel-turned-into-movie bad.
I was wrong.
This film doesn't have that much effects but the way the story was handled was cool. It made me wonder what the mist brought along..
It explored human nature at it's worst.
It even had one of the types of people i dislike greatly, the religious fanatics.
And it also made me think of what I'll do if I was in the same situation.
And the ending is forever going to be part of my best endings list.
Classic Stephen King.
A real must see for those who like twisted endings.

Review:Semi-Pro

I was expecting that this movie will be laugh-my-ass-off funny because of Will Ferrel.
I mean, I loved Blades of Glory so Semi-pro should deliver similar laughs, right.
Unfortunately I was just disappointed.
I don't think I've watched a movie with as much curse words as Semi-pro.
It turned me off.
Although I never thought that Will Ferrel had a nice voice.
I liked the song "Love Me Sexy".. Hehe..
It's also nice of them to put a moral lesson in the story.
You know, like "Everyone love everyone" and the part about playing the game and not just playing for the fame.
And I really tried hard to remember where I saw the Monix guy before.
Turns out that he's Woody Harrelson. Saw him in Will and Grace. ^_^

Review:Street Kings

Pfft..Street Kings..
I wanted to watch Step Up 2.
But then again, I did let Beau decide what movie to watch.
The movie was ok although there were parts that confused me a bit.
Forrest Whitaker's acting was very good.
I expected more action from the film but since I'm not really a big fan of action movies like these I really don't mind that much.
Too much cursing though.
Story also makes you wonder if something similar is going on in America's police department.
Hmm.. I don't think it can happen in the Philippines, though.
Not enough creative minds in our police force.
A mediocre movie from Keanu Reeves.
Bleh.

Review:Forbidden Kingdom

Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
Together.
In one movie.
Need I say more?
But seriously the movie was very good, but not great.
I think that the movie was a bit short and there really wasn't anything new or amazing to me.
Just your regular Kung-fu movie.
The only difference is that it starred 2 of the greatest Kung-fu actors of this generation.
The story was simple, quite plain actually but the fight scenes made up for the simplicity of the plot.

Review:Doomsday

Seriously.
Are you confused about the setting of the movie?
Were all the holes in he stupid plot intentional?
Why would you send only a handful of people in that kind of mission?
And why the hell did the glass in the tank shatter so quickly?
And what's with all the fire and guts?
Thank God for movie passes.
At least I didn't pay for this crap.

Review:Ironman=Stay after the Credits!!! (spoilers!)

Wow.
I think I love Robert Downey Jr.
His portrayal of Tony Stark is A+.
Definitely loved the movie.
It was worth it.
I had no background regarding Ironman so I was wondering if I would enjoy the film.
But since my beau was so excited about it, we went ahead and watched it on it's first screening day.
As usual, dahil first movie, madami pang introductions.
But it was fine 'coz like I mentioned, Ironman is new to me.
Cool talaga 'yung movie.
I liked the part where he was trying to fly.
And Beau reacted when Rhodey (Terrence Howard) saw one of the ironman suits.
Beau explained that Rhodey is going to be a black Ironman. I forgot what he's supposed to be called.
Oh and if you plan to watch the movie, stay after the credits.
I was so sleepy that I begged Beau for us to go home ASAP so I missed the last part. I had to look for it in the internet.
Just stay after the credits. Pls.

Review:Speed Racer

Cool movie.
It was exactly like the cartoon.
I enjoyed the racing scenes, the cool cars and the kaleidoscopic colors.
Cool driving stunts and a good story will keep your eyes focused on the big screen.
Although there were times when I wanted to shout, "Less talk, more action!".
Hehe..
The soundtrack was also cute.
I wondered why Speed Racer bombed in the US...
Definitely a good family movie from the Wachowski brothers.

Review:Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Oh my god!
Did they really have to show 45minutes of trailers and commercials for this movie?!
It's sad 'coz I was actually looking forward to watching this movie but all those trailers made me sleepy.
I really didn't enjoy it that much.
The story was a bit too unbelievable.
I haven't watched an Indiana Jones movie in a very long time and I sort of forgot about the other characters.
But at least there were good points.
Good acting. A few cool fight scenes.
But it wasn't enough to make me excited about another sequel...
Oh well...

Review:The Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian (spoilers!)

At first Beau and I didn't want to watch this movie.
Pero dahil wala nang ibang matinong option,we decided to watch it na lang.
I have to admit that I really enjoyed The Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian.
I liked it better than the first one.
The effects during the giant water person thingy scene was awesome!
I found the dwarf and the mice amusing.
Although I really wish that there were no mushy stuff.Kinda ruined it eh..
And the song in the end really ruined the moment.
It would've been better if it was an instrumental or if the singer had a voice like Enya..
But overall the movie was fun andI didn't regret watching it.
I never had the chance to read any of the Narnia books so I can't compare the literature to the movie but I think that it wasn't so bad.

Review:Kung Fu Panda

I love this movie!
It made me laugh out loud and it was highly entertaining.
Probably one of my favorite modern cartoons.
Jack Black's voice was perfect for Po.
It's your usual fun family movie that kids will surely enjoy.
I loved the part where he was trying to get into the Jade Palace and also during his training.
The movie seemed a bit too short for me but I liked it nonetheless.

Review:Wanted (Spoilers!)

Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed this movie.
I just love Angelina Jolie.. Don't we all?
If you're craving some big screen action then you should definitely watch this film.
My favorite scene is the one with the circular curving of the bullet that Fox did.
I noticed that Angelina Jolie really did lose a lot of weight after her mom died.
And for some reason James McAvoy reminds me of Zach Braff..
The only bad thing when we watched this movie is that we entered the cinema during the last 10mins of the film so we already know what the motivation of the characters were.. Sigh.
Oh and i didn't get how he got the rats to detonate..
But the movie was still cool and I wouldn't mind watching it again someday.
Gotta love all 'em guns...

Review:Hancock (Spoilers!)

Ok. I thought that this was going to be a cool movie.
Unfortunately there were a lot of plot holes and not enough action.
So he and Mary (Charlize Theron) were maid in pairs blah blah..
They lose their special abilities when they're close blah blah..
Then how come they still had the strength to fight each other in the streets?
And why did Hancock lose his powers at the grocery store even though it was quite clear that Mary wasn't there?
And then in the hospital scene Mary's condition started to improve when Hancock left. Immediately.
Where's the logic in all that?
The movie wasn't the least bit good and it just made my headache worse.
Boo..

Review:The Dark Knight (Spoilers!)

I love this movie!
The script was really good and I absolutely loved Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker.
His voice was different and he turned The Joker into this mad, calculating, evil genius.
The acting was totally believable and even the mannerisms and body language was awesome.
And no, I'm not just saying that 'cause he passed away.
Heath Ledger totally rocked the movie.
Anyway, what is up with Batman's voice?
I had to strain my ears whenever he said something.
Oh and the Bat mobile was totally cool and the scene where The Joker was chasing Harvey Dent was my favorite.
I also liked the part with the 2 boats. It reminded me of Paulo Coelho's The Devil and Miss Prym wherein they were trying to prove if man still has good in him.
Twoface also made me a bit sad. It made me wonder what's going to happen in the next film.
Sigh. Too bad that Ledger's dead.
After the movie ended I wanted to watch it again.
It was that good
'Nuff said.

Review:The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (SPOILERS)

Pfft..
The movie wasn't great but it wasn't a complete waste either.
No surprise there. Same old plot. Same old Brendan Frasier.
Same old 'other guy steals the leader's girl'...
The action scenes were cool but there were just too many holes in the plot.
I mean,if the Emperor got turned into this statue, how was he encased in the false shell?
And if the army immediately followed suit, how come they still had time to bury the general in the Great Wall?
And why oh why did they replace Rachel Weisz?
It felt like Maria Bello just wasn't right for the part.
It felt wrong.
Oh and some of the lines were cheesy..
It was a good way to pass the time though..

Review:Star Wars:Clone Wars

At first I thought that seeing the Star Wars franchise as an animated film would be quite an experience.
Boy was I wrong.
Somehow the fight scenes looked a bit slow paced than usual.
Thee were some amusing bits added on the film that I don't think would've fit if it was a live-action movie.
The animation was different but it was okay to me.
It's an ok film but not really something unforgettable.
Maybe they should've made Star Wars:Clone Wars into a live-action movie instead.

Thoughts on Grey's Anatomy Season 5

I have loved this show from the very beginning.
But somehow, as the new episodes are being shown, it seems like one of the previously important characters in the show is starting to fade into the background.
George O'Malley.
I mean, seriously, what is up with Shonda Rhimes?
Why does she refuse to give this character a more interesting role in the latest season?
I think the character started to deteriorate after he and Izzie broke up.
It's sad because he's one of the original cast members and it's starting to look like they're going to axe him from the show.

Another thing, why oh why did they make Callie pathetic?
I used to admire her character since I found her to be different from the other girls.
She's curvy and sassy.
But now she's just blah.

One good point about this season is that Mc Dreamy is finally ready to propose to Meredith.
The Merder teamup is probably the one constant thing about the show.
I also like the whole Lexie-Mc Steamy relationship.
I mean, will Mc Steamy finally have the guts to really fall in love?

Sigh.
I really hope that the storyline improves.
I don't care if Heigl leaves the show.
She's become too conceited anyway.

Review:Confessions of a Shopaholic

I must admit that at first I only wanted to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic because of Isla Fisher.
I find her so pretty and charming.
I found the first few minutes of the movie a bit boring and my boyfriend kept on complaining because he didn't want to watch a chick-flick.
But as the story progressed, I found myself being able to relate to Rebecca Bloomwood (Fisher).
Don't get me wrong, I only have one credit card and I'm definitely not as shopping-obssesed as she is.
The thing is, I also get the same warm and fuzzy feeling whenever I buy something for myself.
And I definitely loved all the beautiful shoes and outfits in the movie.
Well, except for her bridesmaid dress. ^_^
The movie also had this maniac debt collector and I think the things he did to Rebecca would definitely be enough for her to file a complaint to the FDCPA.
I wonder why she didn't think of doing that?
Overall, the movie was a cute chick-flick with eye-candy similar to Legally Blonde but it wasn't good enough to deserve a sequel.

Review:Zen Zest Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner

Hmm..Coconuts...
First off, I just love the smell of the shampoo.
It's so coco-nutty! It's soft on my hair and the scent really just makes me feel oh so pretty and yummy.
One con though is that it doesn't give me the bubbly lather I like in a shampoo. The conditioner is light and doesn't smell as strong as the shampoo.
I'd recommend it for daily use for people who have normal to oily hair. Unfortunately for me, I have rebonded hair so it doesn't offer my hair enough repair/protection that it needs. I'd probably use it when I'm feeling down or for special occasions when I just need to smell and feel great.
And Zen Zest will also give you this card that you can get stamped to receive a discount card. ^_^

Review:Striptease Waxing Kit

I was really curious about this particular item because I read good reviews regarding it on my favorite forum site. My Kikay side wanted to be unleashed again.
I also wanted to achieve the "shiny sexy legs" that my boyfriend likes so much so I decided to buy the product.
I purchased the Striptease sampler size of 150g for 160php thru Ebay.
I was really excited to try it out and the first thing that I noticed was it's scent.
It smelled sweet.
I was tempted to eat it about 2-3 times.
So how was it?
Well, I only tried waxing once and it was w/ this ready to use strip that you just stick to your legs so I didn't have much experience with waxing.
It was quite tiring.
You had to work on one small area at a time.
The wax was really thick and I found it hard to apply because it just won't stick to my skin.
Oh and I broke the wooden applicator but it's still usable.
Putting those cons aside, I still liked using Striptease.
It was cheap and it was fun once you get the hang of it.
And it's really good for getting rid of those stupid hairs.
I only regret that I didn't order extra cloth.
The 160g was enough to wax only both of my calves.
But I would be ordering the largest size next time.
Hurrah for hair-free legs!

Discovering My Roots..

For the past 22 years, I have been wondering whether I really came from Chinese descent or not.
You see,my surname (Tam) isn't really that common here in the Philippines and it sounds kinda Vietnamese as well.
I heard various versions of how our surname came to be and somehow I just accepted the fact that I might never know the real version of the story.
However, as I was going through some old documents in search of my birth certificate, I stumbled upon a piece of paper that I have never seen before.
Curious, I decided to read it and lo and behold, my grandfather was indeed half-chinese!
It turns out that I found my grandfather's request for a Filipino citizenship. Cool.
His father's name is Tam Yuk. Weird.
Great-grandpa was born in Canton, China in 1886 and my grandfather became a Filipino citizen only in 1948.
So I'm basically 1/8 Chinese.
I wish they taught us how to speak Cantonese...
Now if I could only figure out how much of a Spaniard my grandmother was....

One of Life's Greatest Mysteries...

I'm not blessed with enough cash to buy my own car so I have to ride a PUJ (Public Utility Jeep) most of the time.
Of course, those of you who ride PUJs from terminals know that the drivers/conductors insist on filling the jeep until you're forced to have your body parts rub against other people's body parts.
And not in a good way.
Most of the time it's smelly/hairy armpits or sweaty/sticky arms.
I don't know if anyone else noticed but in my experience, around 95% of the time, the last 2 people to sit inside the jeep usually end up sitting in front of each other.
Is there an unknown but cruel force in this world that controls the other passengers'minds?
Just try to observe it.. Hehe
