19 Creepy Places That Will Give You Goosebumps

I know it's still early for Halloween specials but I think it's always fun to give yourself a little scare every now and then. Although it might not be such a great idea to write this one at 2 a.m. Oh well. So here you go. A list of 19 creepy places to scare the sh*t out of you. Or your enemies. Or whatever.

19. Aokigahara Forest (aka Suicide Forest)

As the name suggests, this isn't your typical forest that just has trees and animals in it. Every year, as much as 100 bodies are found in this dense forest located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan.

18. La Isla de las Munecas (The Island of the Dolls)

I don't know about you but there's something about naked, abandoned baby dolls that really freak me out.

~~~~~~~
 17. Hellingly Hospital
This one is an abandoned insane asylum in England. Aw c'mon. The name of the place itself already has "hell" in it. Need I say more?
~~~~~~~

16. Takakonuma Greenland Park

Ah Japan. Land of the rising sun. Land of animé, manga, sushi and some seriously disturbing areas. This abandoned park is the second one on our list that's located in Japan. Creepy accidental deaths, anyone?

~~~~~~~
15. Anderlecht Veterenary Surgical School
Oh animals! How cute. And it's a school. How educational. Wrong. Think traumatizing instead.
~~~~~~~

14. St. George's Church

This abandoned church in the Czech Republic was made more eerie by the addition of the sculptures made by artist Jakub Hadrava.

~~~~~~~
13. Pripyat, Ukraine
This city once served as home to workers of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Now it just serves as a creepy reminder of the tragedy that happened in 1986.
~~~~~~~

12. Beelitz Helistatten Military Hospital

Abandoned in 1994, this hospital complex once treated Adolf Hitler himself.

~~~~~~~
11. J Ward
Located in Australia, this was an old prison that used to house the criminally insane.
~~~~~~~

10. Hashima Island

Here's another one from Japan. It used to be home to more than 5,000 people until petroleum replaced coal and the mines closed in 1974.

~~~~~~~
9. Helltown, Ohio
Another place with "hell" in its name. Seriously. Why would you do that unless you want your town to conjure up thoughts of fear and death? Oh and it's also said that a "moving tree" can be found in this town.
~~~~~~~

8. Byberry Mental Asylum (Philadelphia State Hospital)

This psychiatric hospital was a silent witness to the maltreatment and abuse of the patients that stayed there until it stopped its operations in 1987.

~~~~~~~
7. Sanzhi Houses
These UFO like houses were constructed in Taiwan as part of a resort back in 1978 but the project was abandoned due to suicides at the site which led to investment losses.
~~~~~~~

6. Willard Asylum

Because you just can't get enough of scary insane asylums where tons of patients died.

~~~~~~~
5. Fengdu Ghost City
It's a Chinese ghost town that houses statues straight out of your nightmares. It depicts how you will be punished if you're a bad person. So be good. Be very, very good.
~~~~~~~

4. Sedlec Ossuary

This Roman Catholic church in the Czech Republic is said to contain the bones of between 40,000-70,000 people.

~~~~~~~
3. Overtoun Bridge
So it's a bridge. What's so creepy about that? Well numerous dogs have jumped to their deaths from this bridge since the 1950s. That's what's so creepy.
~~~~~~~

2.Candido Godoi

Just a town in Brazil that's also known as the twin capital of the world. Twins are cool. Nothing wrong with that. But what makes it creepy is the theory that the high twin rate is the result of experimentation done by Josef Mengele, a notorious Nazi doctor.

~~~~~~~
1. Auschwitz
A place that was witness to countless executions, medical experiments and unimaginable horror brought about by Adolf Hitler.
